Mr. Spohn started his journey in the martial arts in 1982. As a child he was taught the fundamentals of karate and after earning his few belts, he knew that he was going to dedicate his life to the practice of the martial arts. Since that time, Spohn has proven to be a fierce practitioner, training and studying multiple disciplines. Today he continues to practice the art that he started as a child; Shotokan, training under the direct guidance of Hanshi Robert Handley, who has tested and promoted Spohn to his 8th degree black belt.
As an instructor, Spohn believes in a principled approach to martial arts, which includes the development of personal character as well as physical strength. His primary teaching goals are to motivate and inspire his students to be the best that they can be, while instilling respect, confidence, effective self-defense, and discipline.
His passion for the martial arts is apparent in every class he teaches. His ability to reach children and adults alike has given him the opportunity to be a positive influence in the lives of many.
